We are situated on the northwestern edge of the Colorado Plateau near Capitol Reef National Park, Utah*. Scenic Highway 12 and the Great Western Trail are only a few miles from our front gate!

The nearby town of Torrey offers a small grocery store, service stations and good restaurants such as award-winning Café Diablo, Rim Rock Restaurant and the Sandstone with their popular prime-rib weekend special.
To the south on Highway 12 is the small town of Boulder, Utah; just 40 miles away. The Anasazi State Park and the famous Hell’s Backbone Grill are located here. It is also the gateway to the Burr Trail and Hell’s Backbone scenic drive around the Box Death Hollow Wilderness Area.

Further on is the Grand Staircase – Escalante National Monument , the town of Escalante and finally – 112 miles from Laforborn – is breathtaking Bryce Canyon National Park.

To the east of us are Capitol Reef National Park and the town of Hanksville. Then on south (Highway 95) to Natural Bridges National Monument and to Monument Valley (200 miles) or northeast to Moab, Utah and Arches and Canyonlands National Park (150 miles).
